A NEW song for Dorset, by composer Karen Wimhurst, had its online premiere on Wednesday 4th August, and is available at asongforus.org for 12 months.
The song, When Time Lost Its Edge, is performed by Palida Choir, VIVA! Dorchester Women’s Choir, Dorset County Hospital Staff Choir and students from Thomas Hardy School, Dorchester. It has been produced in partnership with Poole’s Lighthouse Arts Centre and Artsreach.
Writing a song to reflect people’s time during the pandemic in Dorset, Karen invited people in Dorset to answer three simple questions. With lyrics drawn directly from people’s words, the result is a song capturing their diverse experiences and hopes for the future.
A Song for Us is a nationwide project conceived and produced by Sound UK. It has commissioned 15 leading music creators across genres to write new songs inspired by the people of their county.
