Akong premiere with director at Strode Theatre

STRODE Theatre, Street, has the local premiere of a film about the Tibetan Buddhist master, Chöje Akong Tulku Rinpoche. Akong: A Remarkable Life, will be shown on Wednesday 19th July at 7.30pm, with a question and answer session with the director Chico DSall’Inha.

Sumptuously filmed, drawing from archive footage, the film charts Akong’s life against the backdrop of political occupation in Tibet and social revolution in the West, from his perilous escape from Tibet in 1959 and his life as a refugee in India and England, before settling in Scotland, where he founded the Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery.

Akong Rinpoche was noted for promoting compassion in personal and social action and his exceptional charitable work, until his tragic murder in 2013.
