IF you loved SIX the Musical, you will be excited to hear about a new pop musical from the same producer – Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World has its world premiere at Southampton’s MAST Mayflower Studios on 6th November.
The show is co-produced with Kenny Wax Family Entertainment, the producer behind Six (the musical inspired by the six wives of Henry VIII), which had a sell-out week at the Mayflower this summer and has recently opened on Broadway.
Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World is based on the award-winning picture book of the same name by suffragette descendant Kate Pankhurst. In it, the inquisitive heroine Jade breaks away from a school trip to her local museum to take a peek into the not yet open Gallery of Greatness.
There she meets the original Wonder Women – including Frida Kahlo, Rosa Parks, Jane Austen, Emmeline Pankhurst, Mary Anning, Rosa Parks, Anne Frank and Marie Curie. From explorers to artists, scientists to secret agents, we hear the stories of the women who really did change the world in this family musical that packs a popstar punch.
The musical is written by dramatist Chris Bush and songwriter Miranda Cooper, whose hits include Sound of the Underground and The Promise for Girls Aloud. Music.
The cast includes two of the original Six ‘queens’ – Christina Modestou and Renee Lamb.
This new musical is at MAST from 6th to 20th November with daytime and evening performances. For more info visit www.mayflowerstudios.org.uk
