THE closure of the Colston Hall for refubishment means that a number of venues across Bristol will be used for concerts, and one of them is the Tunnels, where on Wednesday 15th August the Virginia-based band of brothers Sons of Bill will be performing at Bristol Tunnels. They are in the UK promoting their new album, Oh God Ma’am, which they describe as indie-Americana. The first single tfrom the album, Believer/Pretender, is “a sort of a meditation on continuing to make music in adult life; especially in a superficial cultural and economic climate that continues to devalue the arts” says lead singer James.
The following night, 16th August, Wye Oak comes to The Louisiana in Bristol, all the way from Baltimore. Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack were teenagers when they began playing together in Baltimore 12 years ago. Now they live more than a thousand miles apart, but still work together. Their celebrated fifth album is The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs.
