Ballet at Hatch is back – with Ukrainian special guests

BALLET Under the Stars returns to the beautiful walled garden at Hatch near Tisbury this summer after a Covid-enforced two-year hiatus. There will be three evenings of stunning classical and contemporary ballet, with leading dancers including two special guests from the National Ballet of Ukraine.

Hatch House performances have become renowned for their exciting mix of classical, neo classical and contemporary dance, performed by some of the greatest dancers from the world’s greatest ballet and dance companies. The companies with dancers featured this year, on 22nd, 23rd and 24th July,  include the Royal Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, Staatsballett Berlin and Ukraine National Ballet.

The performers will include Royal Ballet super stars Fumi Kaneko and Vadim Muntagirov, the Staatsballett’s Ksenia Ovsyanick, Northern Ballet’s Denis Vieira and English National Ballet stars Fernanda Oliveira and Fabian Reimair. The line-up also includes Paris Opera Ballet’s rising stars Lugna Peign and Guillaume Diop.

Following the invasion of Ukraine, two leading principals, Julia Moskalenko and Stanislav Olshansky from The National Ballet of Ukraine, will be coming to Hatch. They are among thousands of artists displaced by the war, who find themselves homeless across Europe. We are honoured to be able to give them a stage.

The list of performers is completed with the Mariinsky star and principal dancer Xander Parish to Hatch House. Xander recently fled Russia by bus to the border with his wife Anastasia to Estonia where they are awaiting visas to return to the UK.
