Last date for Bath Opera Tosca tour

BATH Opera brings a star of the Moldovan State Opera company, in the title role of opera singer Floria Tosca, for the summer tour, ending at Prior Park College in Bath on Saturday 23rd July.

Tenor Robert Felstead sings the part of Tosca’s lover Cavaradossi, and Niall Hoskin plays Scarpia, the evil chief of police, one of the greatest bass-baritone roles.

Ghiulnara Raileanu has sung the title role of Tosca several times with the national opera and ballet company in Chisinau, the capital of her home country, Moldova. She graduated from the Academia de Muzică, in Chisinau and has been a regular soloist with the national opera company for more than ten years, performing roles including the Countess in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Amelia in Verdi’s Un Ballo di Maschera, Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello and two of Puccini’s other great soprano roles, Mimi​ in La Bohème and Liu in Turandot.

West Country-based Robert Felstead is a regular concert soloist in the region, and sings with Swindon Gilbert and Sullivan Society as well as Bath Opera. He won the supreme championship at Swindon Music Festival in 2016.
