Short-lived Beautiful outcome to Beastly tiers

AFTER six live performances, Living Spit at Bristol Old Vic will go “on line” following Health Secretary Matt Hancock’s announcement that Bristol will move back into Tier 3 on Boxing Day.

Howard Coggins and Stu McLoughlin, aka Living Spit, prepared their new Christmas show Beauty and the Beast for both live audiences and for on-line streaming, just in case.  It opened at the historic Old Vic Theatred on Saturday 19th December, only a day later than originally planned.

Last Christmas’s show they were joined by two ballet dancers as they put their own spin (or fouetté as you might say) on Swan Lake. This time they take the Gabrielle-Susanne de Villeneuve original story of the devoted daughter and her less-than-lovely captor and bring it into the 21st century. Rather predictably, Howard plays the Beast, with Stu as Belle.

If there is one thing we need in 2020 it is to laugh, and I can’t think of a better masters of the chuckling ceremony than Living Spit.

Performances were scheduled through until Saturday 9th January, before a tour of the South West.

Now the show will be streamed to your home.  Visit the BOV website for details.
