Bennett’s brilliant imagined meeting at Salisbury

MATTHEW Kelly comes to Salisbury Playhouse from 17th to 22nd September in Alan Bennett’s award-winning play The Habit of Art.

Directed by Philip Franks, the production also stars David Yelland and looks at a (fictional) meeting the poet WH Auden and composer Benjamin Britten. It explores friendship, rivalry, heartache and the emotional cost of creativity.

It begins with a misunderstanding about who is a rent boy and who an interviewer.
