Bouncing back in dance

PAVILION Dance South West, based at Bournemouth Pavilion, celebrates the return o live performance with the Bounce Back Dance Festival, an exciting free programme of outdoor dance, from Saturday 29th May to Wednesday 9th June.

Dancers and companies from across the UK will be bringing the joy of dance across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area. Themes include ideas of personal connection, abuses of power and the right to protest which have all become so pertinent in the past year,.

The line-up includes POWER from 2Faced Dance which interrogates how power can seduce, shift and shape our behaviour, and Born To Protest, the first piece of outdoor work by Joseph Toonga and Just Us Dance Theatre, using hip-hop dance to respond to the lived experiences of black men.

Zannah Chisholm, artistic director of Pavilion Dance, says: “After a year of no live performance, we are thrilled to have 12 days of free live events for the local community and those visiting the coast to come and see safely.

Other companies taking part include Joli Vyann with Lance Moi En L’Air, Tim Casson’s PREPPERS The Show, Autin Dance Theatre with Out of the Deep Blue, Roll Play with Simple Cypher and COAST Youth Dance Company in Meeting Point.

The venues are Lower Gardens, Horseshoe Common, Poole Quay, Poole Museum, The Triangle, PDSW Terrace and Branksome Dene Beach.
