COMPOSER Jonathan Dove, the guest director of this year’s Salisbury International Arts Festival, has been awarded a CBE for services to music in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Jonathan has played a key role in the development and programming of the 2019 festival, which featured several of his compositions. These included the premiere of Vertue – a new piece commissioned by Wiltshire Creative and Lichfield Festival for Voces8 which was premiered in Salisbury – and a set of Moon Songs performed by hundreds of local school children in Salisbury Cathedral on the opening day of the festival.
Wiltshire Creative artistic director Gareth Machin said: “We are thrilled that Jonathan has been recognised in this way. He has a significant relationship with Salisbury and it’s been a joy working with him on this year’s festival.”
