Christie classic at the Playhouse

AGATHA Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d has been adapted for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff, and comes to Salisbury Playhouse from Friday 15th February to  Saturday 9th March.

The tour is produced by Wales Millennium Centre and Wiltshire Creative and the director is Melly Still.

The cast is led by Susie Blake, who plays Miss Marple in this first ever stage adaptation of the thriller. She says: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be taking on this part, I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to play a role like this my whole career. I loved watching the great Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple and always wanted to be her when I was growing up. I admire Miss Marple’s incredible brain and very much look forward to putting my own spin on the character with the fantastic creative team.”

She is joined by Simon Shepherd as Scotland Yard Inspector Dermot Craddock, leading the cast that also includes Colin R Campbell, Suzanna Hamilton, Julia Hills, Katherine Manners, Katie Matsell, Davina Moon, Huw Parmenter and Gillian Saker.

Set (of course) in a sleepy English village, the locals have to cope with changing times when beautiful Hollywood film star arrives, wearing trousers! A dejected Miss Marple wonders if the world still  needs her. But then a mysterious death calls into question the past of all those present, and everyone’s version of events is different.

Can our trusty sleuth unravel the tangle of lies?

Salisbury performances are at 7.30 from Monday to Saturday, with Thursday and Saturday matinees starting at 2.15.
