BRISTOL Old Vic’s newly-conformed Weston Studio has had an exciting start to 2019 which continues from 16th to 18th May with Dom Coyote in We Can Time Travel.
The show, on nightly at 8pm, is an epic time-travelling odyssey for today, combining storytelling and gig to create a contemporary sci-fi fairy tale inspired by HG Wells’ 1895 novella The Time Machine. He takes the audience on a joyous journey through time with a wake-up call to stop our chaotic present becoming a dystopian future.
From Thursday 23rd May, the critically acclaimed Freeman, touring the UK, comes to Bristol. The play won a Spirit of the Fringe Award at Edinburgh and was shortlisted for Amnesty International’s Freedom of Expression Award.
Inspired by the first man in America to plead insanity as his defence, writer Camilla Whitehill and Strictly Arts examine the unspoken link between mental health and systemic racism.
Throughout time and across waters, from William Freeman to Sarah Reed, six true stories are threaded together and told through physical theatre, spoken word, gospel singing, shadow puppetry and more.
