TROWBRIDGE’s Town Hall Arts is showing the Derwent Art Prize (DAP) 2018 as part of its autumn exhibition programme, on show until 10th November, at Trowbridge before it heads to the Derwent Pencil Museum.
Now on its fourth instalment, the DAP has been rewarding excellence in artworks created in pencil biannually since 2012. This year the prize received the highest number of entries yet, with 3,299 artworks submitted.
The final exhibition includes 67 artworks by 57 artists from 10 different countries. The shortlisted works offer an overview of the quality and diversity of contemporary art being created in pencil. From photo-realist portraits to gestural abstraction, the range of artworks presented is striking and significant.
Town Hall Arts also welcomes 2016 DAP selected artist Rosie Snell, a senior lecturer at Bath Spa University, who will be giving a talk about her work on Thursday 18th October at 6pm.
