SOUTHAMPTON’s Mayflower Theatre celebrates its heritage with a one-off screening of Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on Sunday 19th November at 2pm.
The screening of this classic animated film is part of Southampton Film Week. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was first shown at the Empire Theatre (as Mayflower Theatre was known then) in 1937.
In 1933 the theatre made adaptions to have a cinema screen and projection booth and is technically one of the oldest cinemas in Southampton still standing today. The theatre officially “finished” showing films in 1988 after a week of rock music cinema.
The Mayflower management is thrilled to be screening one of the original films from the 1930, with an opportunity to explore the building’s and city’s rich history with cinema.
