WRITER. broadcaster and comedian Dom Joly, best known as the creator of Trigger Happy TV, is on his first UK tour since 2011, with West Country dates continuing at the Plough Arts at Torrington on Wednesday 18th March.
The new show focuses on his exploits as a globe-trotting seeker of dangerous travel spots. From North Korea to Chernobyl, he’s visited some of the most unusual – and hazardous – places on the planet. And he has the holiday snaps to prove it.
The best-selling author will meet fans after the show to sign copies of his latest book, The Hezbollah Hiking Club. His interest in travel writing is reflected in his choice of favourite book – The Innocents Abroad by Mark Twain. Dom says: “Mark Twain is known by everyone for his Huckleberry Finn stuff but he was also an amazing travel writer. What I love about him is that even though he wrote more than 100 years ago, he remains completely relevant and modern.”
The tour also stops , Paignton’s Palace Theatre on Thursday 19th March, the McMillan Theatre at Bridgwater on Saturday 21st, Exeter Corn Exchange on Sunday 22nd, and Wiltshire Music Centre at Bradford-on-Avon on Thursday 26th.
