Dorchester director for Poole’s new Persuasion

THE new Theatre6 production of Jane Austen’s Persuasion, coming to Poole’s Lighthouse from Thursday 20th to Saturday 22nd September, is directed by  Kate McGregor, who comes originally from Dorchester.

Kate, who now lives in Wimbledon, is artistic director of Theatre6. She trained at the National Theatre Studio and  at Drama Studio London. She was also Noel Coward Trainee Director at Salisbury Playhouse in 2012.

Poole Lighthouse is the second venue of the autumn tour for this “beautiful, witty and wonderfully emotional production” of the Austen classic.

Anne Elliot, young, in love and swept off her feet by the dashing but poor naval officer Captain Wentworth, rejects his marriage proposal because of pressure from her selfish, society-obsessed family. Several years later Wentworth returns from sea.

Will a chance encounter lead Anne back to her true love, or to a life forever alone?

The cast is led by Ceri-Lyn Cissone as Anne, with Matthew Atkins, Siobhán Gerrard, Indigo Griffiths, Jason Ryall and Lucinda Turner.
