ONE of three touring productions of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, by Quantum Theatre, comes to Buckland Monachorum Garden House on 9th July and Cannington’s Walled Garden on 30th July. Watch as four Athenian lovers defy their parents and run away, only to be enchanted by fairy dust as the magical beings of the forest take on the humans. This is the one where the fairy queen falls in love with an ass, and it always delights audiences.
The second Quantum show is for the younger audiences. Beatrix Potter’s immortal tale of Peter Rabbit is a perfect way for children to watch their favourite characters come to life in the open air. See it at Buckland Monachorum on 9th July or Davey Fort at Lyme Regis on 23rd July. In August The Tale of Peter Rabbit tour comes to the Rural Life Museum at Glastonbury (2nd), The Wardrobe at Salisbury Cathedral Close (17th), Parish’s House at Timsbury (20th) or Cannington Walled Garden on Saturday 27th August. Performances are at various times in the afternoons.
