DORSET Visual Arts has an exhibition, Drawing on Dorset, at the Fine Foundation Gallery at Durlston Country Park, Swanage, until Wednesday 17th July, coinciding with the publication of a book of the same name.
The exhibition and book feature work “in Dorset, of Dorset, about Dorset,” with 36 selected drawings in the book, and the originals in the exhibition. The selection was made from work submitted following an open call to survey current themes, trends and innovations on drawing practices. It spans the figurative, the abstract and both physical and digital drawings made in Dorset, of Dorset and about Dorset.
This is the second in an on-going series of publications on different art forms produced by Dorset Visual Arts, which is best known for Dorset Art Weeks. The first book, Fifty Dorset Makers, also accompanied by an exhibition, has helped invigorate the profile of design and craft in Dorset. The new book seeks to highlight a very different aspect of creative practice in the county.
