THE current touring production of Tom Kempinski’s brilliant Duet for One comes to Salisbury Playhouse from 10th to 15th September, its only stop in the south and west.
Robin Lefevre’s production stars Belinda Lang as concert violinist Stephanie Abrahams and Jonathan Coy as Dr Feldmann.
Duet for One is deeply moving, and at times poignantly funny, charting the mental process for Stephanie Abrahams when a diagnosis forces her to re-evaluate her life. She can’t get her head around the reality of her future, so consults psychiatrist Dr Feldmann. The resulting duel between their razor-sharp minds makes for a life-enhancing tribute to the human spirit.
The story, based on the life of cellist Jacqueline Du Pré, was first seen at the Bush Theatre in 1980 with Frances De La Tour and David de Keyser and has had many revivals, including the award winning Juliet Stephenson and Henry Goodman production. The film adaptation starred Julie Andrews.
