Escaped Alone in Bristol

CARYL Churchill’s latest play, Escaped Alone, comes to Bristol Old Vic from 22nd to 26th March on a short UK tour following a New York run.

The four-woman show opened to great critical acclaim at the Royal Court in 2016, and the revival reunites the wonderful Linda Bassett (most recently Nurse Phyllis Crane in Call the Midwife), Deborah Findlay, Kika Markham and June Watson in the roles they created.

Escaped Alone won the Best Play category at the Writers’ Guild Awards 2017

“I’m walking down the street and there’s a door in the fence open and inside there are three women I’ve seen before.”

Three old friends and a neighbour. A summer of afternoons in the back yard. Tea and catastrophe as they discuss fear of cats and the collapse of civilisation as we know it.

Performances at Bristol are nightly at 7.30, with 2.30 matinees on Saturday and Sunday. The running time is 50 minutes and Escaped Alone is suitable for audiences aged 14 and older.
