STREET Theatre, the award-winning amateur company based at Strode Theatre in Street, has chosen Brian Friel’s poignant autobiographical play Dancing at Lughnasa for its spring production, on stage from 23rd to 25th March.
The company has been bringing high-quality drama to the Strode stage for more than 20 years, the wide variety of its productions creating a strong and loyal following both locally and further afield.
The triple Tony award winning Dancing at Lughnasa is directed by Lois Harbinson. Its setting is a fictional village in County Donegal in August 1936, around the time of the traditional harvest Festival of Lughnasa. The story is told through the eyes of Michael Evans, looking back at the five women who raised him – his mother and her four older sisters.
The cast includes Charlotte Hide, Neil Howiantz, Eliane Morgan, Hilary Quinlan, Jane Sayer and Karen Trevis.
