From Eliza to Clara at the Merlin

THE Christmas show at the Merlin Theatre in Frome this year is The Nutcracker, on stage from 6th to 15th December.

It’s a speedy return for Anabella Fairgrieve, who plays Clara just weeks after her sensational turn as Eliza in Pygmalion with Frome Drama.

She is one of several talented young performers from the areas about to apply to drama schools and aiming to make their careers on stage and film, and she is an  avid theatre-goer too.

“We are so lucky to have the Merlin. They not only encourage and inspire me to try to be an actress but I actually get to the one thing that is really essential – the chance to perform in a professional theatre, night after night.  That’s not something most school kids and students have.

“That opportunity simply isn’t available in most towns. Frome rocks, I tell you!” she says.

Debut director Scott Ward has been rehearsing with Anabella, and with Owen White as her brother, Fritz.

They are joined by Abi Holmes and Joe Horley as the Mouse Queen and King and Ed Henderson as the Royal Prince of Make Believe.
