JAMES Cox, show secretary of the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show, currently scheduled for 19th August, has sent out a reminder that the closing date to book trading stands is 1st April.
He says: “At this time plans continue as normal for what is expected to be a fantastic and successful Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show, with a number of new sponsors, trade stands and attractions to be announced over the coming months.
“We continue to monitor the ever-changing situation and government advice surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. At this time the peak is expected by early June therefore providing plenty of time for normality to resume along with bookings, entries, preparations and enjoyment of the 2020 show in mid-August.
“The office continues to review the situation and if this does change, we will of course be in contact. We will take every precaution to make sure our staff, visitors and volunteers are in the safest of environments.”
The closing date of 1st April is to allow the 2019 trade stand holders to keep their 2019 position or to indicate that they wish to change position.
“To allow us to continue to move forward in organising the show we must keep this date, otherwise come the summer when hopefully the country reopens again we will only have a matter of weeks to do an entire layout.” The application form is on the website www.gillinghamandshaftesburyshow.co.uk/trade-stands/
The Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show is very much the show for the area, says James: “We pride ourselves on being a local show, putting the consumer in contact with the producer, promoting our regions of Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire. This year more than ever we need to offer our region a great rural day out this summer. We want to provide you, our local businesses, a platform to sell your products and to promote your services after a long tough spring. The Gillingham & Shaftesbury Show will be the high street where business gets done.”
