IF you weren’t lucky enough to get to one of the few Christmas shows and Covid-year pantos, you can still enjoy a celebration of this great British tradition courtesy of the wit and invention of Bath Theatre Royal’s favourite panto star, Jon Monie.
Jon, long-time partner of the late great Chris Harris, playing the sidekick to Chris’s dame, has also developed a parallel career as a pantomime writer, and for the 2020 season he penned Pantomonium! for Blackpool’s Grand Theatre. The latest lockdown put paid to live performances, but the show was filmed at the theatre, and is being streamed until the end of January.
Pantomonium! is a great celebration of all the fun of pantomime, packed with Jon’s trademark humour, classic gags and routines. It is a Covid-friendly 75 minute show, with four actors and six characters.
The company includes Nick Wilton, a regular in East Enders, and the hugely popular regula dame at Bath Theatre Royal, with Britain’s Got Talent finalist Steve Royle, West End and Emmerdale star Tom Lister, and TVs Milkshake! host Olivia Birchenough.
A percentage of the ticket price will go to support the Theatre Royal Bath. Check out the theatre’s website for more details and joining instructions – www.theatreroyal.org.uk
