THE spring production by Sidmouth Amateur Dramatic Society will be Last Tango in Whitby, running from 10th to 14th May at 7.45pm at Sidmouth’s Manor Pavilion theatre. The play is the first production in the society’s centenary year.
The 1990 play is by Mike Harding, the multi-talented author, comedian, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and broadcaster. Last Tango in Whitby has something for everyone – singing, dancing, a lot of laughter and a touching drama.
Pat, recently widowed, joins this year’s coach trip to Whitby – it is tinged with sadness but she is determined to enjoy herself. Phil and Edna provide entertainment with old-time dancing etc. Phil too is trying to enjoy himself despite being trapped in a dead marriage and during their first dance together he and Pat feel the unexpected spark of mutual attraction.
