THE Suffolk based sculptor Laurence Edwards returns to Messums Wiltshire at the 700 year old Tisbury tithe barn with new work, on show until 20th October.
The exhibition, A Gathering of Uncertainties, continues Edwards’ fascination with the male human form, anatomy and metamorphosis, especially with the change undergone by this shape during improvisational moulding and casting techniques.
To make his sculptures Edwards first works in clay. The works are then transferred into a wax version by way of a latex shell and it is at this point, when most sculptors depart, that he begins again.
On 19th October there is an opportunity to make your own mini Man of Stones in clay and join with others to create a unique piece of installation art before taking your creation home. Tuition will be provided by sculptor Alasdair Rennie from Coade.
