Limelight shines on Mister Tom

THE Athenaeum Limelight Players will stage David Wood’s play Goodnight Mister Tom at the Warminster theatre from Thursday 18th to Satuday 20th April, nightly at 7.30.

Based on the children’s novel by Michelle Magorian, it follows the story of eight-year-old Deptford evacuee William Beech, sent to live in rural Dorset in the quiet village of Little Weirwold during the Second World War.

William arrives in the village physically and emotionally scarred by the cruelty of his mother, and is billetted with the reclusive and curmudgeonly Tom Oakley. A nurturing friendship grows between the two, but it’s shattered when William’s mother calls for him to return.
