OPERATIC tenor John Hudson, who has made many appearances with Dorset Opera, returns to the county to perform his solo show, Mario Lanza and Me, at the Corn Exchange in Dorchester on Valentine’s Day, Wednesday 14th February.
John, a regular principal with English National Opera, Welsh National Opera and Scottish Opera as well as leading companies all around the world, had a chance encounter in 1973 with a gramophone and a Mario Lanza LP. It was a life-changing moment, he says.
In his loving tribute to one of the world’s greatest voices, John shows us how Mario changed not only his life, but the lives of many more.
Stolen from the opera world by Hollywood, Lanza became the world’s first “crossover” artist. John will relive the songs that captured the hearts of a generation including classics such as O Sole Mio, Vesti La Giubba and I’ll Walk With God.
