AUDIENCES at the MAST Mayflower Studios in Southampton will be first to experience an electrifying new musical prior to its London run, when Tokyo Rose opens for a short run from Thursday 16th to Saturday 18th September.
Following a try-out at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019, where it was described as the next big breakout musical, this pulsating pop rock musical is a co-production between MAST and female-led Burnt Lemon Theatre – and will be particularly enjoyed by fans of SIX The Musical.
Tokyo Rose tells the incredible true story of Iva Toguri, who stood trial accused of being the notorious ‘Tokyo Rose’, a Japanese wartime disc jockey who broadcast propaganda to the Allied forces in the South Pacific. Music is by William Patrick Harrison, with book and lyrics by Maryhee Yoon and Cara Baldwin.
Evening performances are at 8pm and there is a Saturday matinee at 4pm. For further information and to book tickets visit www.mayflowerstudios.org.uk
