THE coronavirus regulations mean many older people are forced to isolate themselves, and for some, particularly if they are on their own or don’t have a garden, boredom and loneliness may be a problem – a Somerset artist has launched a service which may also introduce some to a new hobby.
Joanna Commings from Wellington, who used to teach art at Taunton’s Brewhouse arts centre, and now runs workshops for local art groups, is aiming her service at amateur and hobby painters.
“They are invited to email images of their work to me and I will provide feedback to hopefully help them improve,” she says.
“It’s all too easy to panic in such an isolating situation but this time could be well spent on producing artwork. A little guidance and encouragement could lead to real achievement and satisfaction – a very rewarding way to fill the empty months and beyond.”
For the duration of the emergency there will be no charge for this service. Anyone interested should contact Joanna either by email on email@example.com or by phone/text on 07749531160.
