Rising star organist at Gillingham

RECENT graduate Claudia Grinnell gives the second concert in the Summer Organ Recital series at Gillingham Methodist Church on Sunday, 20th August at 3pm.

This 14th annual series welcomes the  recent organ scholar from Salisbury Cathedral who has just graduated with a first-class degree in Music from the University of Cambridge, where she was Organ Scholar at Peterhouse, a college with no Director of Music where the organ scholars take full responsibility for the running of the Chapel Choir.

From there she led the choir on tours to Reykjavik and Dublin. Claudia becomes Assistant Organist Winchester Cathedral as  in September.

At Gillingham, Claudia will be playing works by Mendelssohn, Purcell, JS Bach, Stanford, Buxtehude and Byrd.

Admission to the Gillingham recital is free, although donations will be gratefully received. Refreshments will be provided.
