Slapstick handbags and sandwiches

IF the second thing you think about when someone says The Importance of Being Earnest is cucumber sandwiches, the Slapstick Picnic touring production is ideal for you.  This offshoot company of The Handlebards is bringing Wilde’s classic back on the road this summer, and making seven stops in the south and west this July.

See Jack and Algernon, Gwendolen and Cecily, Rev Chasuble and Miss Prism, Lane and Merriman and, of course, the redoubtable Lady Bracknell, in this  trivial comedy for serious people
(as the writer called it)  in the open air, with the appropriate alfresco foodstuffs.  And don’t forget your HANDBAG.

Slapstick Picnic will perform it at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis on Friday 15th July, Tapeley Park at Bideford on 19th, Taunton Brewhouse on 2nd, the Almshouses at Corsham on 23rd,  the Yeo Valley Organic Garden on 29th,  Swindon’s Theatre at the Bowl on 30th and at the Holburne Museum in Bath as part of the Garden Theatre Festival on Sunday 31st July.
