CRAIG, the friendly Forest Ranger and resident tree expert has to make sure that the woods are a peaceful and happy place, but he’s having a tough time of it with some mischievious forest creatures. You can share in Craig’s adventures on 17th and 18th August when Squashbox Theatre tells Tales from the Trees at Durlston Country Park, Swanage, and Child Okeford village hall.
A cheeky squirrel has stolen Craig’s chocolate-covered nutty snack bar, his niece, Little Red, has wandered off the path on her way to Granny’s house, the mysterious old Wizard of the Woods is playing tricks again, and there are even rumours of a big bad Wolf in the forest! Will Craig save the day?
Come and find out, and along the way learn how to identify different trees, discover the wonder of photosynthesis, meet some friendly forest creatures and encounter crazy characters from folklore and fairy tales!
Founded by Craig Johnson, a member of Kneehigh Theatre, this Cornish company has been creating outstanding work for children and families since 2007. Now this summer, audiences are invited to enter to the tremendous world of trees, from branch to leaf and twig to root, from berry to blossom and bark to fruit!
The show, brought to Dorset by the county’s touring arts charity, Artsreach, is a terrific tangle of puppetry, storytelling, live music and comedy.
Tales from the Trees is Durlston Country Park, 01929 424443, on Friday 17th August at 3pm, and Child Okeford, 01258 861621, on Sat 18 Aug at 2pm.
After the show there is a hands on crafts workshop, creating moving card puppets of sea creatures, piskeys and faeries, dinosaurs and cavemen! Places are limited; enquire when booking – www.artsreach.co.uk
