THE Springhead Trust opens the beautiful lakeside gardens at Fontmell Magna on Bank Holiday Monday, 6th May, for the Creative and Sustainable Living Fair and open garden event.
It is an opportunity to visit one of Dorset’s most fascinating gardens in all its spring glory, and a stimulating introduction to aspects of sustainable living.
The gardens lie to the east of the 18th century Mill House and feature a wide range of flowers, shrubs and trees, with views and reflections in the changing light; the rush of the great mill-race and the gentle ripple below the silt trap; the bird life on the water, and especially the swans.
The Creative and Sustainable Living Fair aims to encourage, showcase, celebrate and promote local craftspeople and makers and to inspire a more sustainable way of living. There will be stalls with vintage and preloved homeware and fashion, up cycled furniture, zero waste products, vegan and natural soaps and beauty products, handmade wood crafts and jewellery, plants and plant-based baked goods.
There will be short demonstrations and creative and sustainable fashion workshops throughout the day. The open gardens and sustainable fair run from 10am to 5pm. Dogs are allowed on leads; there will be drinks, cake and light lunches at the Mill House Cafe.
