The art of eventing

STURMINSTER Newton equestrian artist Katie Scorgie is one of the artists taking part in a lockdown project called #artistssupportpledge and is also exhibiting in the new Virtual Eventing competition which starts on Wednesday 6th May.

The pledge project is an artists’ self help scheme – when an artist has sold five works, each for no more than £200, they pledge to buy a piece of work from another participating artist.

So if you support Katie and buy one of her paintings – horsey or not – she will be able to support another artist. It’s a simple and clever idea. To see the works available in this scheme, visit Katie’s Facebook or Instagram pages.

Virtual Eventing is a fun idea to raise money for NHS Charities Together. Many of the leading event riders are taking part, including William Fox-Pitt, who has his yard near Sturminster Newton.

There are a wide variety of auction lots, including show-jumping and cross country lessons, top quality tack, luxurious meals and wine, and an excellent collection of equestrian art. Visit the site for more info
