A FORMER member of TRB Youth Theatre, Amber Massie-Blomfield, returns to Bath for an evening event talking about her acclaimed book, Twenty Theatres To See Before You Die, at the Theatre Royal’s egg venue, on Thursday 17th January.
The book, described as a love letter to theatre, takes the reader on a journey from Cornwall to Mull, along a road less travelled to discover Britain’s most astonishing theatres. They include a ruined playhouse, haunted halls, a stage hewn from granite cliffs, theatres on wheels, squeezed into a former public lavatory and rescued from fire, even a theatre that is not there at all!
Amber, a theatre producer and writer, makes the case for radical, quirky, and non-conforming performance spaces alongside traditional and historic venues including Theatre Royal Bath.
Amber, who was brought up in Limpley Stoke near Bath, was a long-standing member of Theatre Royal Bath’s Youth Theatre during her teenage years, and is a former pupil of the Royal High School. She describes her book as a personal account of a life-long love affair with the places where “anything is possible.”
