Two man show at new lakeside gallery

SCULPTURE By The Lakes, Simon and Monique Gudgeon’s sculpture park at Tincleton has a new indoor space, the Barn Gallery opening from Saturday 24th November with Pattern and Poise, a two man show featuring sculptor Simon Gudgeon and renowned US wildlife painter Andrew Denman.  The exhibition runs to 21st December.

Andrew Denman is showing new work which applies his stylised and contemporary approach to the animals, birds and livestock of rural England. Central to the show is his fascination with pattern and a deep and abiding love of nature, particularly championing commonplace and often overlooked wildlife.

Simon Gudgeon’s new sculptures show the development of his abstract bird series. He works directly from his encounters with and observations of the natural world. He says: “Sculpture is all about form and birds have such beautiful lines that they are ideal subjects to abstract. Abstraction keeps the essence of the subject whilst minimising the detail..”

The Barn Gallery provides a generous space to exhibit Simon’s smaller sculptures and work by other artists from around the world whose work fits with the ethos of the sculpture park

There is a charge to visit the sculpture park, but entry to the Barn Gallery and the Gallery Café is free.
