Waiting for Godot in the garden

AMATEUR Players of Sherborne were due to perform Samuel Beckett’s most famous play, Waiting For Godot in April … and they have been waiting ever since lockdown started.

But the wait is over – the company is putting the play on in the open air with two al fresco performances, at 2.30pm on Saturday 5th and Saturday 12th September, in Paddock Gardens, Newland, Sherborne.

They are hoping for good weather and a nice late-summer atmosphere, says Martin Williams, who is playing Vladimir. Audiences are encouraged to bring Pimms, picnics, etc.

The production is directed by Jerome Swan, and Carl Davies is playing Estragon. Adrian Harding is Pozzo, Graham Smith is Lucky and Seth Collis is the boy.

If the first performance is cancelled because of bad weather, tickets will be valid for the second performance. Tickets, including a programme, a drink and entry to the draw, are available from the APS website, www.aps-sherborne.co.uk or telephone 07585 278722

The pre-lockdown photos show Vladimir and Estragon, and with Pozzo.
