LIVING Spit, Howard Coggins and Stu McLoughlin, promise a “Disney-defying” version of the classic French fairytale, Beauty and the Beast, which they are touring around the West Country, in our area from 18th June.
In the original, a bright and beautiful young woman is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. She learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realise the kind heart and soul that lies within.
Not quite how Living Spit see it. Howard is beautiful. There’s no escaping that. But then so is Stu. In fact, Living Spit is widely known as the most physically attractive two-man musical comedy theatre company in the South-West.
However, in this tale as old as time one of them will have to portray an ugly, foul-tempered beast. But which one will it be?
Living Spit’s Beauty and the Beast is at Salisbury Playhouse on 18th June, Bridport Arts Centre on 24th June, the Exchange at Sturminster Newton on 30th June and 1st July, the Marine Theatre at Lyme Regis on 6th July, and the tour ends in the spectacular setting of Cornwall’s open air Minack Theatre on 10th-11th July.
