Williams and Parkinson at Messums

AN intimate exhibition at Messums Wiltshire, at the 700 year old tithe barn at Tisbury, until 28th April, features work by the great 20th century photographer Norman Parkinson, and Angela Williams who was influenced by him, and went on to have a long collaboration with him.

Entitled “Beginnings of a journey,” the exhibition includes the image that the then 21 year old Angela Williams first sent to the great fashion photographer, when she wrote to him asking for work experience, and quickly became his personal assistant.

Williams also worked on the Observer’s supplement, for the Sun newspaper and for Woman’s Mirror, amassing an impressive collection of portraits of film stars and other celebrities, including Audrey Hepburn, Jane Fonda and Paul Newman.
