SO many talented young singers entered a contest to sing with the BSO this Christmas that the orchestra has arranged an extra concert of The Snowman on Sunday 16th December.
The Rising Talent section of the Poole-based orchestra had more than 70 applications from an area covering Bournemouth, Poole, Bath, Salisbury, Frome, Exeter and right across Dorset. The singers aged from nine to 13, wanted the chance to sing Walking in the Air with the world-class orchestra, and now there are two chances in the afternoon and evening.
All the applicants were invited to a group audition and from these, 15 singers were shortlisted for a solo audition.
The BSO will be delighted to welcome Leo Ahern, Sophie Anderson, Alex Bartle and Matilda Rose Hill to perform with the orchestra.
Eleven year old Leo is a pupil at Minehead Middle School, 13-year-old Sophie Anderson from Hampshire, 13-year-old Alex Bartle from Exeter and 13-year-old Matilda Rose Hill from Bath will sing the solos at the two performances.
