SALISBURY’s Studio Theatre continued its long history of awards at local and regional drama festivals with a mother-and-daughter double triumph at the 2023 Totton Festival of Drama.
Rachel Fletcher was named Best Actress for her role as a German teacher trying to improve her language skills in English for Pony Lovers by John Finnemore – one of the company’s three entries into the annual competition.
Daughter Emilia picked up Best Supporting Player for her role as a bogus police inspector in Murder in Little Grimley by David Tristram.
Best Youth Actress went to Studio Youth Theatre’s Em Poole in the role of an anxious businessman in Peter Tarsi’s Tracks.
The festival attracted ten entries from amateur dramatic companies across the south.
English for Pony Lovers was overall runner-up and will now progress to the semi-final of the All England Theatre Festival to be held in Frome’s Merlin Theatre on 7th May.
