DEVON’s Villages in Action has received welcome additional project funding from Arts Council England, Scops Arts Trust, and Innovate UK. This will enable the continuation of the touring arts charity’s performance and engagement programme for the next 18 months.
The VIA team, based at Teignmouth, say the new grant will enable the network, made up of volunteers, community venues and producers, will continue to improve access to culture for all, enhancing the quality of life for rural communities; combatting isolation and encouraging social inclusion.
There will be more outdoor performances, and the organistion will be able to continue its digital project with care homes, as well as the annual From Devon With Love festival.
Creative director Mair George says: “We are excited to build on what we’ve been doing over the last 30 years, with a renewed vision and mission. Our vision is to democratise the arts and make them accessible for everyone, and we know that rural places are often left behind. We’re looking forward to working with communities across the county.”
Villages In Action is keen to hear from performers, musicians, dancers, poets and storytellers to showcase their skills and entertain audiences as part of the touring programme which will be launched in May 2023 to until August 2024. For more information visit villagesinaction.co.uk
