IF there is one thing a pantomime dame needs, it is to be seen – or perhaps B-Scene, as the newest company in the area is called. The Yeovil-based group will be bringing panto to Sherborne this Christmas, and it’s the perennial favourite story of Cinderella
In this version, the wicked Morsus and the Ugly Sisters are determined to ruin things for beautiful Cinderella, and to stop her meeting her charming prince.
B-Scene Productions is the passion project of 17-year old Rosie Horsey. “I started B-Scene productions with the aim of creating an inclusive and welcoming theatre group that produces great work, at the same time as having fun.”
Alongside Rosie is Rich Walters, a familiar face to local audiences through his many appearances with societies including Civic Players, CUDOS and YAOS. “I’ve been acting on the stages of south Somerset for over 30 years,” he says, “but this is the first time
I’ve been involved with setting up a new company from scratch. It’s exciting but quite daunting! We’re literally starting with nothing except enthusiasm. There’s a lot of work to do, but we’re looking forward to the challenge!”
Rosie has written B-Scene’s entirely new version of Cinderella, and she promises plenty of cheering, booing and madcap fun. See it at Leweston School, just south of Sherborne from 18th to 20th December. Performances are at 7pm on Thursday and Friday, and at 1.30pm and 6pm on Saturday.
