FRESH from his adventures in the Celebrity Traitors’ Scottish castle, historian David Olusoga comes to Bridport Electric Palace on Friday 12th December at 7.30pm, with a new talk, History’s Missing Chapters, in which he explores how and why some people and some events are remembered and others are forgotten.
The acclaimed author, broadcaster and newspaper columnist, who is Professor of Public History at the University of Manchester, recently interviewed the former US President Barack Obama, and is also currently presenting Empire, a series on BBC television. His other television programmes include Union with David Olusoga and the long-running BBC series A House Through Time.
His new talk includes examples from the world wars, the Industrial Revolution and other pivotal moments in global history.
Olusoga’s books include Black & British: A Forgotten History (awarded both the Longman-History Today Trustees Award and the PEN Hessell-Tiltman Prize), The World’s War, Black & British: A Short Essential History, The Kaiser’s Holocaust: Germany’s Forgotten Genocide and the Colonial Roots of Nazism.
He has received many awards and is a Fellow of the British Academy, The Royal Society of Literature, The Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Historical Society.
