Whether and when to attack – a timeless decision in war

ACTOR and writer David Haig wrote his third play, Pressure, in 2014 for Chichester Festival Theatre. It has its Somerset premiere from 16th to 21st March at Yeovil’s Swan Theatre, in a production directed by Mark Payne.

The date is June 1944. The Allied forces are poised for D-Day, and the lives of 350,000 Allied troops are at stake. The decision whether to attack or not comes down to the most important weather forecast of all time, and one man’s decision is about to change the course of history.

Pressure is an extraordinary and little-known true story which thrillingly explores the responsibilities of leadership, the challenges of prophecy and the personal toll of taking a stand. The audience will see it at a time when most people are thinking about the realities and complexities of a war in which we have no part, but whose impact hangs over the way we continue to live our lives.

The powerful Yeovil cast includes Ben Woof, Robert Graydon, Shaun Driver and Colin Martin, with Liz Stallard as Kay, Tyrone Trower, Roger Chadbourne, Alan Rawlings and Mike Stanley.
