Dylan Thomas delight for Christmas

THE Emma Rice Company will be coming to Bath Theatre Royal’s Ustinov Studio this Christmas with a delightful staging of Dylan Thomas’s A Child’s Christmas in Wales. Adapted and directed by Emma Rice, the play was a sell-out at her company’s Frome base last year, and fans will be delighted to get a second chance to see this enchanting and imaginative staging, on from Wednesday 9th to Thursday 24th December.

The critically acclaimed production, with music by Ian Ross, is the perfect antidote to festive madness, taking young and old to a magical place of wit, warmth and wonder, as Dylan Thomas’ beloved poem is woven into a beautiful piece of heart-melting music, puppetry, candles, shadows and rare imagination.

Emma Rice said: “We cannot wait to bring our magical show to Bath this Christmas. A Child’s Christmas in Wales will nestle beautifully in The Ustinov! Sat invitingly between the spectacular of the Main House and the family fun of The Egg, this breathtaking production offers something a little different – a warm, funny, and heartfelt escape from all that Christmas noise.”

A Child’s Christmas in Wales follows the company’s production of Malory Towers which recently appeared at the Theatre Royal Bath, while later this year the original Kneehigh/Emma Rice Company production of Tristan & Yseult will open at the Theatre Royal Bath before touring, as part of the two companies’ three-year partnership, The Director’s Cut.
