YEOVIL’s young star choreographer James Bamford has a busy few weeks – at the end of July he will be working with the Covent Garden Dance Company at the schools day at the Walled Garden at Hatch near Tisbury, and on 27th and 28th August he brings his own Project Dance Company back to Westlands at Yeovil with a new work, Things I’ve Never Said.

The new show, the fourth annual touring production, set to an original live score, is a life-affirming work, a moving exploration of the secrets we carry and the words we leave unspoken.

Alongside the production, the company is launching a public campaign inviting people to share their own “things they’ve never said,” creating a space for honesty, reflection and connection. Anyone can visit tins.projectdance.org.uk to get involved.

James Bamford, who founded Project Dance eight years ago when he was just 14, says: “It’s never easy to describe how it feels to be developing and presenting a new show – it is without doubt the most magical, inspiring yet live-engulfing process.

“Now in our fourth consecutive year of presenting an original production annually, Things I’ve Never Said stands apart for its ambition – a new, compelling and nuanced narrative, underscored by a live band on stage, which we hope will prove to be a unique and emotive experience for audiences.”

Blending a story by James Bamford and Grace Noelle, with exciting choreography, and music by Charles Harrison, Things I’ve Never Said is an immersive theatrical experience that shines a light on the shared human experience – reminding us that everybody has a story.

With the Covent Garden Dance Company, in its last year as Ballet Under The Stars at Hatch (moving to a new home near Bruton next year), James is curating the Hatch House Dicky Buckle Children’s Matinee, bringing together a programme of artists and performances designed specifically for young audiences. He will also be compering the event, guiding audiences through the programme and helping to create a welcoming, engaging and accessible experience. He says: “I am incredibly excited to bring the event to life and to introduce children and families to such a varied and inspiring programme of dance.”

Things I Never Said has its premiere at the Crescent Theatre, Birmingham on 25th August, coming to Yeovil Westlands on 27th and 28th August, and going on to the Redgrave Theatre, Bristol, on 29th and the Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks, on 30th.
