Christmas at Hallowe-en

THEY do things differently in Sturminster Newton – so no surprises if the latest production by local drama society SNADS is a festive show … at Hallowe’en!

A Vicar Of Dibley Christmas is being staged at the Exchange from 29th to 31st October, bringing all your favourite characters from the hit television comedy series together for a typically chaotic count-down to Christmas.

You might ask why it’s being staged at Halloween. The company spokesperson says you will be haunted by the final scenes – just wait and see!

It’s the familiar line-up – dashing David Horton, chairman of the parish council and all round (not so) good egg, and his son Handsome Hugo and his gullible girlfriend – now wife – Alice who have a surprise for David. Alice is the verger to the Dibley vicar, the Rev Geraldine Granger.

Then there are the vicar’s faithful parishioners and brother parish councillors – ‘Orrible Owen Newitt, farmer and juggler, sex starved Jim Trott (no, no, no, yes he is) and Mrs Letitia Cropley, church organist and once crowned by Geraldine as “The Queen of Cordon Bleurgh”.

Last, but definitely not least, there is Fussy Frank Pickle, the pedantic parish clerk, who also has a secret to impart.
