Finding light in the darkness

A LIGHTHOUSE is a symbol of hope and safety, light in sometimes frightening darkness, a welcome hint of hope if the ship is foundering or there is a man overboard. In her debut play, The Light House, coming to Somerset’s Take Art rural touring charity in September, writer-performer Alys Williams explores a real life story of falling in love and staying in love, even when the lights go out and you are lost in the dark.

Love is a complicated business. It gets even more complicated when the person you love doesn’t want to be alive, but despite the dark realities that surround the central character, this play is also a love letter to life.

With puppetry, clowning and a little audience participation, The Light House comes to this region, following a national tour and London run at Park Theatre in 2023-24.

Following a tour of Scotland and Northumberland earlier this year, The Light House is coming to the West Country, beginning at the Wardrobe Theatre in Bristol on Wednesday 2nd September, followed by four dates with Take Art, at the Front Room, Weston super Mare on Thursday 3rd September, Pound Arts at Corsham on Friday 4th, Penselwood village hall near Wincanton on Saturday 5th and Croscombe village hall on Sunday 6th, all at 7.30pm.
